However, after investing so much time and money into achieving your beautiful smile, we recommend wearing a mouthguard for sports involving physical contact with others. What’s the process for getting a sports mouthguard?
While mouthguards can be purchased at most drugstores, they are likely made of cheap material, don’t fit well, and aren’t very comfortable to use. For best results, we highly recommend that you come into one of our locations for a custom-fit mouthguard.
The process of getting a sports mouthguard will look something like this:
- Come in for a consultation. After completing an oral exam, we’ll discuss which sport(s) you play, what your needs are, and what kind of sports mouthguard would best suit you.
- We’ll take an impression of your teeth, creating a precise mold. This impression will be created in our lab, where your mouthguard will be fabricated with the highest quality material.
- We’ll invite you to our office for a fitting once the mouthguard is ready. Your orthodontist will make necessary adjustments to ensure your sports mouthguard fits securely and comfortably.
