Digital Bracket Placement

With today’s technology, getting braces is more convenient and faster than ever. Digital bracket placement, also known as indirect bonding, streamlines the first major step of orthodontic treatment– physically attaching brackets to your teeth. In the past, this was a harrowing experience. Not only would you have to endure the discomfort of lingering putty in your mouth for initial molds, but you would also have to sit for hours in the chair for braces bracket placement. With your mouth stretched open, the orthodontist would directly place each bracket on each tooth, one by one.

Luckily, we can now eliminate this lengthy, exhausting procedure with digital bracket placement, or indirect bonding. With technology like the iTero scanner, we can determine exactly where each bracket will be positioned on each tooth. You don’t even have to be in our office while this happens. Orthodontics have advanced light years in the last couple of decades, and we do our utmost to provide you with the most comfortable, efficient experience possible.

What is digital indirect bonding?

Otherwise known as digital bracket placement, indirect bonding is a method of applying every bracket to your teeth simultaneously. After scanning your mouth and making a 3D plaster model of your teeth, we use cutting-edge software to determine exactly where each bracket should go. Using your unique, in-house customized models, we’ll seal and cure these brackets on plastic trays.

When you come in to have your braces put on, we’ll first prepare the surface of your teeth for adhesion. We’ll then place these trays on your teeth, much like putting on a mouth guard. After the trays are meticulously aligned and the trays are removed, you will be left with perfectly placed brackets on each of your teeth. With most of the work already done in the lab, the entire process of digital bracket placement should take between 30 minutes to an hour at most.

Benefits of Digital Bracket Placement

With the latest technology, digital indirect bonding empowers us to place brackets on your teeth in record time. In the past, direct bracket placement could easily take two hours or more in the chair – with your mouth agape. We understand that starting a new treatment can be overwhelming, especially for children, and the last thing we want is to begin treatment with an unnerving procedure.

Digital bracket placement ensures a smooth first step in your orthodontic journey. It cuts down on overall cost, initial time in the chair, and even the amount of times you have to visit us. Using this technology will spare you anywhere between three to four appointments throughout the course of your treatment.

Along with cutting costs and time in the chair, digital bracket placement offers something that wasn’t possible with direct bonding – accuracy. With our technology, we assure that you will receive the best treatment possible. When it comes to aligning your teeth, there is no room for error. Even one misplaced bracket could alter your outcome. Digital indirect bonding ensures ultimate precision and optimal results from day one. What’s even more exciting is that you’ll be able to see your future smile before even starting treatment.
