Case Study: Sophia

This young lady came to our office expecting to have four permanent teeth removed. Her mother was treated by an orthodontist in Texas where she had four teeth pulled. So she was delighted to learn that her daughter did not have to suffer the same fate. I explained to her mother that with the Damon system, crowding works to help expand the arches and will result in a very full smile.

She exhibited extreme crowding in the top and bottom arches, but the posterior teeth fit together well which made her case just a bit easier. Using just the Damon system with no other appliances, I was able to gently expand the dental arches to correct the crowding in less than two years. She and her family were ecstatic over the result. I am always impressed by the response of the gingival tissues to the Damon system. The gums are healthy with no recession present on any teeth. When you compare her finished result with the initial smiling picture, you really appreciate the width of her smile; it is gorgeous.
