Case Study: Kim
This patient came to me to see if there was any other way to correct her bite without having to undergo an extremely painful and expensive jaw surgery procedure. She was referred, as often is the case, by a former patient that recommended her to me for a second opinion.
A thorough examination revealed that the patient had a very narrow upper jaw that fit entirely within the lower jaw. In addition, the bite on the left side was off by over seven millimeters. In summary, she had an anterior and posterior cross-bite complicated by over ten millimeters of crowding in the upper arch and excessive lower jaw growth.
Since her lower molars were not inclined very much, I felt confident that we could correct her condition without resorting to surgery or removal of teeth. We were able to correct her underbite using the Damon Brace System™ in twenty-six months without resorting to cumbersome expansion appliances, removal of teeth, or jaw surgery. Notice how the post treatment pictures show how her smile now mirrors the curve of the lower lip and fills the entirety of her whole mouth.
